Lestat is the vampire that I will be trying to portray. I chose
him because after reading the screenplay his character stood out the most to
me. He is strong and evil and overall seductive and I fell for his character.
Mysterious and coy is pretty much how he stays in this novel, at times he shows
is weaknesses but most things don’t get to this handsome badass vampire prince.
His character never seems to think hard and long about his actions which tells
me he his impulsive and doesn’t see life as sacred. Killing who he wants and
win he believes is his right as a vampire, since he is already damned what can
hurt him? He relishes his abilities and doesn’t understand vampire’s ho don’t,
ones that see human life for what it is, living. He was so alone, this
emptiness has caused him to manipulate his friends to stay with him, which
never works. Its hard for him when plans don’t work out and he no longer lives
in luxury because before becoming vampire his father made she he had the best,
causing him to become very rude and to look down on people worse off them him.
This doesn’t do well once he no longer cares for humans. At the end of the
novel, Lestat feels so alone and broken. He grows tired of living and kills
himself. For me I can easily fall into his character I feel, only because we
have a disgust for the humans.
This was a very tricky book to read. I never felt attacked to the main character and I think that is that point. He is to himself a god. He only sees himself in this world and what he wants. He does not take no for an answer and thinks money is the answer to everything. The book keeps you in his car the most and you see all he has all the electronics and computers and the people that come to him never the opposite. I don’t see him as privileged I see him as someone who has worked hard and knows what he wants. he is numb to people and their problems be cease they are not his own. Of course this mind set harms him and his stalker wants to kill him. Because of his private and his money, he can easily ignore it until he can’t. I thin k he learns he can’t hide behind money and even though he can hide in his limo the world continues, something I think he easily forgets about. this book teaches you that you cant hide and privlage can not protect you.
