True Grit

True grit is a book that was published in 1968. This old Western really gave Americans a odd perspective on each other and revenge and the south. This book follows  young girl who is trying to seek help in having her fathers killer murdered. she looks to a couple people for help but besides this sheriff is her best bet. There are other people out looking for her killer as well and they plan on finding him and taking him in alive, but this little lady wants him as good as dead.  The man who was supposed to kill him then gets wrapped in with the other man to take him alive. They decided its no place for a lady and try an try to leave her behind. But you cant stop justice in this novel.  She can not take no for an answer and tries and tries to follow them. Giving up she joins in the search for revenge.
Justice will be served but not until multiply men die to even find the killer. None of them seem to care, this book has a weird shade of gray when it comes to justice and good and bad. What makes them any better? She tries and tries to revenge him to become worthy of someone to be loved by a dead man. In the end a rattle snake bites her and she loses her arm. She sees now that hate and anger is not worth it. All the killing and revenge and the hunt has led her here. No arm and a ton of dead men on her soul. This novel makes you think about justice and if its worth it. I don't think so.

Interview with a Vampire: Lestat

Lestat is the vampire that I will be trying to portray. I chose him because after reading the screenplay his character stood out the most to me. He is strong and evil and overall seductive and I fell for his character. Mysterious and coy is pretty much how he stays in this novel, at times he shows is weaknesses but most things don’t get to this handsome badass vampire prince. His character never seems to think hard and long about his actions which tells me he his impulsive and doesn’t see life as sacred. Killing who he wants and win he believes is his right as a vampire, since he is already damned what can hurt him? He relishes his abilities and doesn’t understand vampire’s ho don’t, ones that see human life for what it is, living. He was so alone, this emptiness has caused him to manipulate his friends to stay with him, which never works. Its hard for him when plans don’t work out and he no longer lives in luxury because before becoming vampire his father made she he...

The Wife of Bath's Prologue

PROLOGUE ON MYSELF: I am Amber Atkinson, 22 years old from Norfolk Virginia. I come from a hard broken life and know suffering and know what it means to have nothing. I grew up without a lot and it helped me grow into the independent person i am now. I am a Little control freak and organize my life a lot. Sadly that means I'm really bad at relaxing and just letting things go with the flow. I love being in control and working extremely hard for everything i have and want in my life. For our first assignment for Literature and media studies was to read and analyze the Wife of Baths by Chaucer. His story is written in what we now call "Middle English" which was used during the Middle Ages. The prologue starts off explaining the basis of her theories about experience as a woman who has had a full life and has studied the Bible many times. Her theory was that women most desire is complete control over their husbands. Because she has had five husbands, the Wife feels that sh...

Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo

This was a very tricky book to read. I never felt attacked to the main character and I think that is that point. He is to himself a god. He only sees himself in this world and what he wants. He does not take no for an answer and thinks money is the answer to everything. The book keeps you in his car the most and you see all he has all the electronics and computers and the people that come to him never the opposite. I don’t see him as privileged I see him as someone who has worked hard and knows what he wants. he is numb to people and their problems be cease they are not his own. Of course this mind set harms him and his stalker wants to kill him.  Because of his private and his money, he can easily ignore it until he can’t.  I thin k he learns he can’t hide behind money and even though he can hide in his limo the world continues, something I think he easily forgets about. this book teaches you that you cant hide and privlage can not protect you.
