True grit is a book that was published in 1968. This old Western really gave Americans a odd perspective on each other and revenge and the south. This book follows young girl who is trying to seek help in having her fathers killer murdered. she looks to a couple people for help but besides this sheriff is her best bet. There are other people out looking for her killer as well and they plan on finding him and taking him in alive, but this little lady wants him as good as dead. The man who was supposed to kill him then gets wrapped in with the other man to take him alive. They decided its no place for a lady and try an try to leave her behind. But you cant stop justice in this novel. She can not take no for an answer and tries and tries to follow them. Giving up she joins in the search for revenge.
Justice will be served but not until multiply men die to even find the killer. None of them seem to care, this book has a weird shade of gray when it comes to justice and good and bad. What makes them any better? She tries and tries to revenge him to become worthy of someone to be loved by a dead man. In the end a rattle snake bites her and she loses her arm. She sees now that hate and anger is not worth it. All the killing and revenge and the hunt has led her here. No arm and a ton of dead men on her soul. This novel makes you think about justice and if its worth it. I don't think so.
