Tom Tykwer films

I will be analyzing Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run, and Perfume The story of a Murderer, these are three films that tom Tykwer made and added in his special flare. To me the main theme that all three films have in common is the hate or the distrust in the world and how it is always changing but equally the same. Another theme I noticed is how each person in these films deals with chance, that deals with the future like how the next events will affect the next couple actions. Last would have to be death or just loss in general. In Cloud Atlas you follow six different lives spread between 200 years. In each one they are making huge change and decisions that will affect their lives. In each one also there is death or loss. People are being killed my natives or shot in the head. This film shows how no matter when you live, freedom is never free and death is never easy. I feel like in Run Lola Run you see this also. Not only does death follow them in the end but it’s the amount of strategy to live, to survive. One wrong move and you’re gone. Perfume has the most death of course but the murders aren’t what make this movie similar. These women died for their scent but that main death is the things that die in himself. Jean-Baptiste Has been alone and unloved his whole life. Never been given love and never really taken care of. He is never taught and through his life his hatred only grows more. At the end all he craves is death. All of these movies have similar themes but are all shot completely differently. Before this assignment I would have never knows these films for done by the same man.

Interview with a Vampire: Lestat

Lestat is the vampire that I will be trying to portray. I chose him because after reading the screenplay his character stood out the most to me. He is strong and evil and overall seductive and I fell for his character. Mysterious and coy is pretty much how he stays in this novel, at times he shows is weaknesses but most things don’t get to this handsome badass vampire prince. His character never seems to think hard and long about his actions which tells me he his impulsive and doesn’t see life as sacred. Killing who he wants and win he believes is his right as a vampire, since he is already damned what can hurt him? He relishes his abilities and doesn’t understand vampire’s ho don’t, ones that see human life for what it is, living. He was so alone, this emptiness has caused him to manipulate his friends to stay with him, which never works. Its hard for him when plans don’t work out and he no longer lives in luxury because before becoming vampire his father made she he...

The Wife of Bath's Prologue

PROLOGUE ON MYSELF: I am Amber Atkinson, 22 years old from Norfolk Virginia. I come from a hard broken life and know suffering and know what it means to have nothing. I grew up without a lot and it helped me grow into the independent person i am now. I am a Little control freak and organize my life a lot. Sadly that means I'm really bad at relaxing and just letting things go with the flow. I love being in control and working extremely hard for everything i have and want in my life. For our first assignment for Literature and media studies was to read and analyze the Wife of Baths by Chaucer. His story is written in what we now call "Middle English" which was used during the Middle Ages. The prologue starts off explaining the basis of her theories about experience as a woman who has had a full life and has studied the Bible many times. Her theory was that women most desire is complete control over their husbands. Because she has had five husbands, the Wife feels that sh...

Cosmopolis by Don DeLillo

This was a very tricky book to read. I never felt attacked to the main character and I think that is that point. He is to himself a god. He only sees himself in this world and what he wants. He does not take no for an answer and thinks money is the answer to everything. The book keeps you in his car the most and you see all he has all the electronics and computers and the people that come to him never the opposite. I don’t see him as privileged I see him as someone who has worked hard and knows what he wants. he is numb to people and their problems be cease they are not his own. Of course this mind set harms him and his stalker wants to kill him.  Because of his private and his money, he can easily ignore it until he can’t.  I thin k he learns he can’t hide behind money and even though he can hide in his limo the world continues, something I think he easily forgets about. this book teaches you that you cant hide and privlage can not protect you.
